  • Condition: Both photos have condition issues - the one has Swanson's lips and eyebrows colored in with a small area of surface damage also on her lips; also a few small surface chips; slight crease in the background at right; some slight soiling and overall toning. The other photo also has flecks of surface damage; a slight quarter-inch tear in Swanson's hair and another at left edge; long light vertical creases (better seen in scan of reverse); and paper residue/surface damage from previous mounting at one edge on back. Scans show both sides of actual photo for sale.

    ABOUT THIS ITEM:
    A lot of two vintage 1920s era fan photos (one 5" X 7", the other a slightly narrower 4-3/4" X 7"), both picturing film legend Gloria Swanson - both worn, see detailed condition info below.
    These are approximately 5" x7" fan photos from the 1920s (one of the two is narrower, only 4-3/4" X 7"). Printed on a heavy stock (like a card stock), these were the photos that movie fans of the day would typically receive when writing the studio or their favorite star.
    Typically a fan would receive a 5x7 photo in response and often there would be an offer with this photo to purchase a larger sized photo such as this one for a fee ranging from 25 cents to a dollar.
    To the best of my knowledge the signatures on these photos are not authentic, they are either stamped or pre-printed facsimile signature (not autographed).
    GRADING - CONDITION:
    Both photos have condition issues - the one has Swanson's lips and eyebrows colored in with a small area of surface damage also on her lips; also a few small surface chips; slight crease in the background at right; some slight soiling and overall toning. The other photo also has flecks of surface damage; a slight quarter-inch tear in Swanson's hair and another at left edge; long light vertical creases (better seen in scan of reverse); and paper residue/surface damage from previous mounting at one edge on back.
